Dr. Zachary Westhoff

Zachary Westhoff, owner and operator and large animal specialist is a Le Mars community native. He graduated from Le Mars Community in 2004 and attended Iowa State University, graduating with this Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine in 2013. Dr. Westhoff married his high school sweetheart, Jill Powell. Their family now includes two boys, Jarret and Ty.

Dr. Amanda Harris

Dr. Amanda Harris grew up in Northwest Iowa. She received her B.S. degree at Iowa State University in Animal Science in 2011. After completing her M.S. degree in Animal Physiology at ISU in 2012, she continued on to Veterinary School and received her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from ISU in 2016. Her special interests include small animal internal medicine and dermatology. Dr. Harris recently moved to the Le Mars area with her husband, Tyler, 3 daughters, a son, a dog, cats and rabbits. Her interests and hobbies are motorcycle riding, spending time outdoors and enjoying time with friends and family. Dr. Amanda is very excited to join the Le Mars Veterinary Clinic Team!

Dr. Patrick Simonsen

Le Mars Veterinary Clinic is proud to welcome Dr. Patrick Simonsen, DVM, as our full time small animal veterinarian. A northwest Iowa native, Dr. Simonsen was born and raised near Cherokee, Iowa. Growing up in rural Iowa, the Simonsen family always had dogs, inspiring Patrick’s love of animals. Veterinary medicine is a legacy spanning generations of Simonsen patriarchs, including Patrick’s paternal grandfather, great uncle and great-grandfather.

After graduating from Washington High School in Cherokee in 2004, Patrick was first accepted to ISU as an undergraduate, majoring in Zoology with a minor in Animal Science. Advancing to Iowa State University’s College of Veterinary Medicine, Patrick added to the Simonsen Family legacy when he received his Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine in 2013. After graduation, Patrick married Kristina, his high school and college sweetheart. He began his career as a small animal veterinarian in southwest Michigan at a companion animal clinic and practiced there for three years prior to moving back to northwest Iowa .

In July 2016, Dr. Kristina Simonsen, DC, will be opening Simonsen Chiropractic in LeMars. Both Patrick and Kristina are excited to continue practicing their respective medicines in LeMars. They have been looking forward to moving back to northwest Iowa with their daughter, Lauren. They have one dog, Piper, and a cat, Phoebe.

Dr. Megan Schroeder

Megan Schroeder is the newest associate veterinarian specializing in equine services as well as small animal medicine. She is originally from San Antonio, Texas and received her bachelor’s degree from Texas A&M University in Animal Science. She attended veterinary school at Iowa State University and graduated with her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine in 2021. After graduation, she completed an equine focused internship at Dakota Large Animal Clinic in Harrisburg, South Dakota. Dr. Schroeder married Nick Schroeder in July of 2022 bringing her to the Le Mars community. Together, they enjoy spending time with their dogs, horseback riding, and cheering for the Cyclones.
